Ashley R. Cross
Ashley R. Cross is a communications and development professional dedicated to outreach and advocacy for humanitarian and social justice organizations. Formerly serving the global aid organization AmeriCares as Communications Associate during a period of unprecedented natural disaters in Africa, South East Asia and Central America, Ashley R. Cross acted as field reporter and a first point of contact between the public and the administration during AmeriCares international affairs. In addition, she led communications efforts for diverse domestic initiatives, which included: free health care clinics, a program providing home repair services to impoverished families in Connecticut and New York, and recreational programs designed to nurture children and adolescents coping with AIDS.
Devoted to rights-based service, Ashley R. Cross has sought an education in societal change both in and out of the classroom. While at Columbia, she has pursued rigorous studies in human rights, conservation biology, and environmental sustainability. Outside of maintaining a diverse course load, Cross volunteers with the women’s homeless shelter at the New York Society for Ethical Culture through the Columbia University’s Project for the Homeless. Ashley R. Cross has additionally performed as Communications Officer with the Center for Family and Community Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, supporting the development of a clinic for the homeless, and other projects devoted to healthcare equity. Cross resides in New York City. Outside of numerous professional engagements, she enjoys cooking for friends and family, and traveling.
