Anthony Barkate
As owner and President, Anthony Barkate supervises every aspect of California Retirement Plans LLC, a financial services firm with locations in Ridgecrest, Lancaster, and Bakersfield, California. Mr. Barkate established California Retirement Plans in 1990 and currently possesses nearly 30 years of experience in his field. Prior to this, he functioned as Vice President of Investments for Prudential Securities, the former financial services arm of Prudential Financial, Inc. At Prudential, Anthony Barkate created investment portfolios for a range of clients, including small businesses and individuals. Mr. Barkate held the same title at Dean Witter Reynolds before joining Prudential, working extensively in investment and retirement management.
Anthony Barkate attended the College for Financial Planning in Colorado, graduating with a Master in Personal Financial Planning, a degree which gives him distinction over the vast majority of professionals currently operating within the realm of financial services. At the College for Financial Planning, Mr. Barkate studied investment strategies, retirement and estate planning, and taxes. Prior to obtaining his graduate degree, Anthony Barkate earned a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). He attended CSUN between 1977 and 1981, majoring in both Finance and Marketing.
Educating employees of several well-known firms and organizations over the years, including Shell Oil, Pacific Bell Telephone Company, Boeing, and NASA, Anthony Barkate leads a number of workshops in financial and retirement planning. Additionally, he often contributes to television, radio, and print media sources as an expert commentator and consultant in the financial industry. Mr. Barkate has authored numerous articles on relevant topics in his field and edits the Retirement Weekly newsletters published by MarketWatch, Inc.
Anthony Barkate participates with a variety of professional organizations that include the Financial Planning Association, the National Institute of Certified College Planners, The Society for Financial Awareness, and Business Network International. Additionally, he belongs to the Chambers of Commerce for Greater Bakersfield and Ridgecrest and functions as Chairman for the philanthropic Bakersfield Dream Home project with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Mr. Barkate serves as a volunteer with the Rotary Club of Bakersfield and supports the American Cancer Society, Inc. In his private life, he enjoys golfing, reading, and spending time with his family.
