In June of 1989, Amy Kenton graduated from Northern Arizona University and the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University with her Master’s degree in Social Studies Education. She moved immediately into a position at Mineola Union Free School District (UFSD), teaching social studies and English.

Through various fellowships, Amy Kenton spent the summers of 1991 and 1993 furthering her understanding of American history with scholars from across the United States. In 1994, she examined methodologies for the teaching of women’s history and literature, and in 1995, she spent six weeks studying African politics and culture with international professors.

In 1997, Amy Kenton won the Congressional James Madison Memorial Fellowship. This fellowship enabled her to attend Columbia University, where she graduated in 2000 with her second Master’s degree. She focused on liberal studies, majoring in American studies with an emphasis on constitutional history.

With two Master’s degrees in hand, Amy Kenton continued to move forward academically and professionally. Four years later, Ms. Kenton earned her third Master’s degree, this time from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. This degree in school administration and supervision helped Ms. Kenton transition into her new role of Assistant Principal at Montauk Public School. She occupied this position for three years before moving into a series of district administration positions starting in 2008.

Continuing her dedication to higher learning, Amy Kenton is now working towards her EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
