As the Chairman of the Washington, D.C., consulting firm American Defense International, Inc., (ADI), Van Hipp works on behalf of dozens of international organizations to find solutions to public relations, business development, and government affairs issues. Hipp, a veteran of the United States military and an authority on the country’s war on terror, has written articles for Fox News and appeared on the organization’s cable channel as a commentator more than 400 times. Van Hipp has also made appearances on CBS Evening News, CNN, MSNBC, and Sky News Channel based in London. In addition to his work with ADI, Van Hipp plays an integral role in several nonprofit organizations including The Salvation Army, where he serves as a member of the Advisory Board for both the National Capital Area Command and the Alexandria Citadel Corps. Hipp also has volunteered at the National Rural Health Association. He has worked as President of the National Alumni Association at his alma mater, Wofford College.

Van Hipp grew up in South Carolina and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Early in his career, Van Hipp was elected to the position of Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party in 1986. Holding this post through the 1988 elections, he participated as a member of the Presidential Electoral College and introduced former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich at the Republican National Convention. He subsequently assumed the role of Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army. In this position, he maintained responsibility for the mobilization of reserve forces during operations in the first Gulf War. After the conflict, Van Hipp earned a nomination from then Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney to the position of Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Navy. Since ending his military service, Hipp has participated as a member of the President’s Council within the National Safe Skies Alliance. He also served South Carolina as Ambassador for Economic Development in 2002.
