Tina Kafka

Dedicated to giving back to the community, Tina Kafka balances her professional and charitable endeavors. Tina Kafka regularly contributes to Amnesty International. From 2006 to 2007, she volunteered for First Things First, a literacy program for Somali refugees sponsored by the International Rescue Committee. Tina Kafka also volunteered for a literacy program for homeless children at Monarch School. In addition to her studies, Tina Kafka is writing a book about her experience returning to school in New York City. A talented student, Tina Kafka graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Tina Kafka also holds a Reading Certificate and Cross-Cultural Language Development Certificate from the institution. A credentialed teacher, Tina Kafka earned a professional certificate to instruct gifted children in 2000. At present, Tina Kafka is pursuing her Master of Arts at Columbia University Teachers College as an Arthur Zankel Urban Fellow. In addition to her studies, Tina Kafka is writing a book about her experience returning to school in New York City. Tina Kafka taught elementary school for several years before assuming the role of Curriculum Coordinator, a position in which she served as a resource and guide to teachers, helping them to implement high-level teaching strategies in their classrooms. Most recently, Tina Kafka taught adults through a community college district’s continuing education department. An award-winning writer, Tina Kafka has written a number of successful works, including educational texts and young adult nonfiction books within the Hot Topics series.
