Richard Wacksman
Dr. Richard Wacksman boasts a wide range of experience and possesses a comprehensive understanding of issues in the fields of medicine and public health. Having received an extensive education, he earned an MD through the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, now located in St. Maarten, in the Netherlands Antilles. Dr. Richard Wacksman also holds an MBA through Minnesota State University Moorhead, as well as an Associate of Arts in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, which he earned from Palm Beach Junior College and Florida Atlantic University, respectively. After earning his medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 1982, Dr. Richard Wacksman proceeded to receive significant additional training across a number of medical concentrations.
He fulfilled a four-year residency in pediatrics and internal medicine through the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and the Kings County Hospital Center. Finishing the Brooklyn, New York-based residency program in 1986, Dr. Richard Wacksman immediately transitioned to Albany, New York’s Albany Medical Center. He successfully completed a fellowship in critical care medicine at the hospital in 1988. In addition to his significant professional experience, Dr. Richard Wacksman has co-authored a number of published articles and abstracts for an array of prestigious professional journals. He contributed to “Prospective Study of Cost and Length of Stay Outcomes for Patients With ARDS Treated With Continual Lateral Rotation,” published in the journal Chest, and served as a co-author of “In-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation: The significance of lung disease and respiratory distress,” published in the American Review of Respiratory Diseases.
Dr. Richard Wacksman has also contributed to research published in journals such as Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Richard Wacksman’s exceptional skills have garnered him ongoing recognition. He won the Clinical Professor of the Year award through the University of North Dakota and secured the University’s medical school prize for Outstanding Instructor. Additionally, Dr. Richard Wacksman earned the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s award for Best Abstract at its 25th Educational and Scientific Symposium. A Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Richard Wacksman maintains memberships in an array of professional medical associations, including the American Academy of Home Care Physicians, the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, the American College of Physicians, and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
