Rafael Vitolas
A longtime high school teacher and coach, Rafael Vitolas has also served as an Inside Sales Representative at Dell. He launched his education career in 1996 teaching American history and physical education at the junior high school level. In this position, Rafael Vitolas developed daily lesson plans for both subjects. He also coached basketball, football, and track at the school. In 1999, Rafael Vitolas accepted a position as Head Track Coach and Assistant Football Coach at a 5A Division high school. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he also taught English as a second language (ESL) classes.
As Head Track Coach, Rafael Vitolas oversaw five track coaches and created a practice schedule for up to 100 students each day. Mr. Vitolas also directed the annual regional qualifiers track meet, which hosted more than 500 participants from 60 schools. After a year in these positions, Mr. Vitolas transitioned to the school’s social studies department, where he taught courses in world geography. As a world geography teacher, he worked closely with the social sciences department chair and fellow teachers to assess and implement new curricula.
In August 2007, Mr. Vitolas accepted a sales position at Dell. During his two-year term with the information technology behemoth, he utilized his experience in education to drive sales to school systems across the region, increasing the overall revenue of his accounts by 62 percent. He also developed a number of positive professional relationships and worked closely with customers to meet their technology needs.
Today, Rafael Vitolas coaches a 5A Division high school golf team and teaches regular and advanced placement world geography. Over the course of his day, he works with approximately 140 students, incorporating a variety of teaching strategies to keep students engaged in the subject matter.
