Pilar O’Leary serves as the co-founder of Isabella & Ferdinand Spanish Language Adventures. Pilar O’Leary helped develop the company’s original linguistic curriculum, and was the executive producer of the company's first and highly acclaimed children's music CD "Ole & Play! The Songs of Spanish Language Adventures", expanding the company from 60 students to 110 participants in less than two years. As co-founder and director of the language learning company for children, Pilar O’Leary manages business development, day to day operations, recruitment, and strategic initiatives geared toward further broadening the program’s reach. Pilar O’Leary’s company currently serves more than 100 families through classes offered at its learning center in Washington, D.C., as well as at local schools and community centers in the Washington DC area and in Virginia, with plans to host a summer camp program in Miami during the summer of 2011. Prior to establishing Isabella & Ferdinand Spanish Language Adventures, Pilar O’Leary founded her own company, which provides consulting services to various entities regarding cultural and social initiatives for the Hispanic and Latin American communities. In this capacity, she has worked with a number of renowned artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Paulina Rubio, Carlos Vives and producer Andres Levin and others on projects supporting Amnesty International and Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Pilar O’Leary served as Director of The Smithsonian Latino Center, where she promoted Latino culture and heritage through a multitude of mediums, including film screenings, exhibitions, workshop, lecture, and music events, raising millions of dollars to support this programming and establishing partnerships with organizations such as CONACULTA and Carlos Slim's foundation. Pilar O’Leary also aimed to create interest in Latino culture through the establishment of educational programs such as the Young Ambassadors Program, which she developed to support artistically gifted Latino high school students. Pilar O'Leary supported the development of a Latin Grammy award-winning series of Latin American folk music by Smithsonian Folkways Recordings and was the co-producer and senior consultant for the award-winning documentary film, "Accordion Kings: The Story of Colombian Vallenato Music" for the Smithsonian Channel of Showtime Channel. Pilar O’Leary earned a Bachelor of Science in Languages from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. Pilar O’Leary spent her early career as Assistant General Counsel to major financial institutions, such as JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Fannie Mae. In her spare time, she takes pleasure in activities such as reading, yoga, traveling, running, going to the theatre and spending time with her family. She actively supports a number of charities and not-for-profit organizations such as the Spanish Catholic Center which is part of Catholic Charities, The Washington Ballet, Give to Colombia, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the Latino Student Fund and others. She is a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the Instituto Cervantes (New York Branch), the Georgetown University Entertainment and Media Alliance, the National Network on the Early Language Learning, the Board Equity Committee for St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School and Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society.
