Paul Vickrey
Having previously served on a United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois committee that drafted local patent rules, Paul K. Vickrey has enjoyed a long and successful career in intellectual property law. From 1990 to 1993, Mr. Vickrey presided over the AIDS Legal Council of Chicago, an organization that was founded in 1987 by attorney James Monroe Smith to offer legal advice and representation for individuals with the disease experiencing discrimination. Paul Vickrey also served on the Editorial Board of The Business Torts Reporter from 1993 until 2010. Paul Vickrey currently works as an attorney at Niro, Haller & Niro, Ltd., a law firm that specializes in intellectual property law involving patents, copyright, trade secrets, non-disclosure contracts, and unfair competition. Before accepting the position in 1996, Paul Vickrey spent 10 years working at another large Chicago firm, where he won a $100 million fraud lawsuit against chemical conglomerate W. R. Grace & Co. In his 15 years at Niro, Haller & Niro, Paul Vickrey has won some notable cases involving misappropriation and theft of trade secrets, including an $11 million judgment for client C & F Packing Company in 2000 and a $19.2 million award for damages from Key Tronic Corporation the following year. Paul Vickrey also enjoyed success in many cases relating to patent infringement, and he once won two such cases on opposite sides of the country in just three weeks. He has previously protected and defended clients from multi-million dollar lawsuits, and he has worked with several Fortune 500 companies over the course of his illustrious career.
