Mushtaq Thobani
“Where there is a will, there is a way” is one of Mr. Mushtaq Thobani’s favorite quotes, and he holds that particular sentiment close to his heart, particularly in his devotion to helping people. As the Convenor for the Calgary World Partnership Golf Tournament, Mushtaq Thobani helps aid the Aga Khan Foundation in raising funds for poverty-stricken communities in desperate need of assistance in Africa and Asia. The tournament itself is very popular with more than 800 golfers and 200 corporate sponsors participating. In addition to his duties as Convenor for the Calgary World Partnership Golf Tournament, Mr. Mushtaq Thobani also helps with the Fish Creek Sports Soccer Association, a Calgary Southwest United soccer team for children. Currently, Mushtaq Thobani is a resident of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he has worked as a Chartered Accountant for his full-service accounting practice MMT & Associates. Mushtaq Thobani’s dedication to his work led him to receive an achievement award for 25 years of service as a Chartered Accountant. To help keep him on top of his profession, Mushtaq Thobani is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA). ICAA provides leadership and guidance to a network of more than 11,000 Chartered Accountants and students studying to become Chartered Accountants. In addition to playing golf and soccer, Mushtaq Thobani spends his free time reading (his favorite book is John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men”) and traveling around the world. However, Thobani particularly enjoys the vast Canadian wilderness and derives great pleasure from fishing, hiking, and skiing.
