Mary Cicalese graduated from LeMoyne College with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Communications and later returned to higher education to pursue an Executive Certificate in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School. Currently residing in Woodside, California, Mary Cicalese spends much of her spare time exercising. She runs at least two days a week and competed in the 2007 Flora London Marathon, a 26.2-mile race. She also enjoys taking spin classes at the gym, aqua jogging, reading the Harry Potter series, and the challenge of the New York Times crossword puzzles. Inspired by a National Geographic Society expedition to Antarctica in 2008 in which she was a part, Mary Cicalese subsequently established GROW, a market-research firm specializing in environmental practices. GROW focuses on assisting businesses that are serious about gaining a sustainable advantage. Mary Cicalese has additionally utilized her expertise in business and technology to become a recognized speaker. She has authored several research papers on various topics, including online analytical processing, relational online-analytical processing, multidimensional online-analytical processing, and desktop online-analytical processing. Mary Cicalese has developed internal management reports and corporate financial inquiry systems for prominent companies such as AT&T and ITT Corporation. Several software companies, industrial-analyst organizations, and investment-banking firms consider Mary Cicalese a trusted advisor. Mary Cicalese gives back to her community through several different organizations, including the Peninsula Jewish Community Center, the Computer History Museum’s Software Collection Committee and Metadata Subcommittee, the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, Presidio Graduate School’s Alumni Association, and Environment California. GROW and Mary Cicalese also donate 10 percent of the company’s annual profits to a sustainable charity.
