Lonnie Harris

A Germantown, Tennessee, resident and community leader, Lonnie Harris presently works at Fayette County Schools as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development. Highly educated and qualified, Lonnie Harris served for many years as a teacher, counselor, principal, and vice principal in Shelby County, Tennessee. He also worked as a part-time Associate Professor at Union University’s graduate school and has held multiple positions with the Memphis and Shelby County public school systems.

Having served in so many different roles, Lonnie Harris has had ample opportunities to develop his perspective on education. He believes that achievement begins with the collaboration of students, teachers, and parents and asserts that every student has the capacity to learn and needs to be given a suitable environment in which to do so.

Dr. Harris is a National Board Certified Counselor. He is also a graduate of Leadership Germantown and Leadership Fayette.

Lonnie Harris resides in Germantown, Tennessee. His charitable work includes gathering paper products for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and collecting coats for children in need. In addition to volunteering, Dr. Harris enjoys golf and owns and shows Tennessee Walking Horses.
