Kim Fischer

Born and raised in Texas, Kim Fischer attended the University of North Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Radio, Television, and Film in 2003. She hosted a show called Live and Loud for the school’s NTTV channel and anchored Eagle 22 News during her senior year. Ms. Fischer interned at KXAS NBC5 and was a member of the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. She also brought fun and energy to sporting events as the school mascot, Scrappy the Eagle.

After graduating, Kim Fischer joined KRBC in Abilene, Texas, as producer and anchor for the NBC affiliate’s morning show. She next moved to Amarillo, serving dual roles for the Nexstar Broadcasting Group. Ms. Fischer reported three times a day for NBC affiliate KAMR, and she anchored the local 9 p.m. FOX news for KCIT. She subsequently left television journalism for two years, hosting shows and working as a producer for Crozier and Henderson Productions.

In 2007, Kim Fischer returned to the newsroom, reporting for WOAI, the NBC affiliate in San Antonio. In 2009, her career came full circle to KXAS NBC5, where she had interned during college. Ms. Fischer was a popular morning reporter and fill-in anchor for the Dallas-Fort Worth NBC affiliate for two years. She covered stories of local and national interest and appeared on NBC’s Today Show in 2011.

In December 2011, Kim Fischer joined ABC affiliate KVTX, Channel 4 in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the 5 p.m. news desk anchor and a 10 p.m. reporter. The position marks a shift in networks and location for the popular reporter, who now has a permanent anchor position. In Utah, Ms. Fischer continues her commitment to charitable work and community service. She has lent her support to numerous nonprofit organizations, including Children’s Miracle Network, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Family Gateway, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
