John Slifko

John Slifko, a Doctorate candidate in Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles, is a lifelong scholar of urban planning and Freemasonry. He received his Master’s degree in Urban Planning from UCLA in 1989, and then completed the Cotton/Beland/Associates Fellowship in Planning for distinguished work in environmental planning. John Slifko graduated from San Francisco State University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies and Geography.

The Co-Director of the Roosevelt Center for the study of Civil Society and Freemasonry, John Slifko serves as a representative and administrator, bolstering the center’s mission of encouraging academic study of the Freemason fraternal organization, which was founded in the late 16th century. John Slifko is also a member of the Academic Society for Research into Freemasonry and Fraternalism.

In his career of varied experiences, John Slifko served as a Legislative Aide and Field Representative in Congress for eight years. As Deputy Planner to a Los Angeles City Councilwoman, John Slifko participated in the development of Los Angeles International Airport. He also traded green technology stocks from 2000 to 2006.

John Slifko volunteers for The Midnight Mission, which rehabilitates homeless individuals, and Healthy City, a California information portal that connects residents with a plethora of public services. In his leisure time, John Slifko enjoys geographical mapping and exploration, as well as archeaoastronomy, which is the study of how earlier cultures studied the sky.
