Dr. Stephen Carolan
Dr. Stephen Carolan graduated summa cum laude from St. John’s University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. As an undergraduate, he maintained the status of Regents Scholar and also attained a General Excellence Scholarship. One year later, Dr. Stephen Carolan attended New York Medical College and finished 2nd in his class out of 207 students. Again, he was granted a General Excellence Scholarship and was recognized as a Harrison Scholar. Following medical school, Dr. Stephen Carolan completed a four-year residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center, finalizing his coursework in 1988.
Later on that year, Dr. Stephen Carolan accepted a full-time position with Rye Brook OB/GYN which he subsequently helped merge into the Westchester Medical Group. During its inception, the medical group staffed 15 physicians, but has greatly expanded today to include 190 physicians as of 2011. As the most extensive group of private practitioners in central Westchester County, Westchester Medical Group offers 26 specialties throughout its 14 locations. Currently affiliated with the medical group, Dr. Stephen Carolan is recognized for his exceptional talents in urogynecologic and laparoscopic procedures.
From 1997 to 2001, Dr. Stephen Carolan served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York Hospital Medical Center located in Port Chester, New York. Today, he functions as the Director of Obstetrics (OB) and Gynecology at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut, overseeing 48 physicians within his department. In this role, some of Dr. Stephen Carolan’s responsibilities include orchestrating department meetings, formulating various protocols, and instructing physicians as necessary. Dr. Stephen Carolan has worked to develop an OB Hospitalist/Laborist program for the hospital, as well as aided in the creation of the Greenwich Hospital in vitro fertilization (IVF) program.
