Dr. Robert Belfon
Since 2003, Dr. Robert Belfon, who possesses a specialty license in Pediatric Dentistry from the state of New Mexico, has operated a private practice in Albuquerque. Dr. Robert Belfon has also held appointments at a number of area hospitals, serving as Attending Pediatric Dentist at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, New Mexico, and Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and maintaining hospital privileges at HealthSouth Albuquerque Surgical Center. Dr. Belfon has authored a variety of published articles and studies in professional journals, including a 2004 New Mexico Dental Journal article titled "Conscious Sedation, Pharmacological Agents."
Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Robert Belfon served as a commissioned officer with the United States Naval Reserve, which he joined in 1985. Through the years, he held numerous positions within the Kearny Naval Reserve Unit, including Dental School Liaison Officer. During the Gulf War, he was called to active duty as part of Operation Desert Storm.
Dr. Robert Belfon earned a certificate from the Lenox Hill Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy in New York in 1971, then went on to receive an Associate of Science in Biology in 1974 from Essex County College in New Jersey. He completed is Doctor of Medical Dentistry at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark in 1977. He continued his education through post-graduate work in the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery's Department of Children’s Dentistry. Additionally, in 1986, he earned a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the New York University College of Dentistry's Department of Children’s Dentistry. While there, he conducted an undergraduate clinic as an Instructor of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Robert Belfon also gained educational experience as a member of the Advisory Committee to the School of Dental Hygiene at Essex County College and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and an Instructor at the New Jersey Dental School.
