David Webster
David Webster is owner and lawyer at the Webster Law Office, Chicago, Illinois. Established in 2007, the firm specializes specializes in handling issues related to mergers and acquisitions, unfair competition, employment law, and litigation, in addition to general corporate proceedings for small and mid-sized companies, including several start-ups. David Webster began his career with Winston & Strawn LLP in Chicago, where he worked for 12 years in corporate and securities, litigation, antitrust, and international law. He also took part in frequent antitrust negotiations with the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice. Webster was elected a partner after six years with the firm, and the experience he gained with Winston & Strawn helped earn him a White House Fellowship in 1987. As a White House Fellow, David Webster and his colleagues enjoyed discussions with numerous national and international leaders. Webster traveled to government and military facilities around the world in service to the United States Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). David Webster’s White House Fellowship led to a position as Special Assistant to the Director of the FBI, where Webster was responsible for representing the Director on policy-making committees and delivering assessments on bureau practices including civil liberty issues involving various non government groups. During this time, David Webster also worked with the Bureau's Congressional office on matters before the House and Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. In 1989, David Webster moved to a position as the Assistant General Counsel for Multilateral Negotiations with the United Stated Arms Control and Disarmament Agency in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, David Webster operated as a legal advisor for ambassadors heading U.S. delegations to negotiations in Geneva, Budapest, Vienna, Ottawa, and the United Nations in New York, among others. Webster also contributed legal opinions on proposals for new agency policies regarding conduct and compliance with federal law. These proposals covered a range of issues, including contracts, personnel, legislative acts, use of government funds, and ethics. In 1994, David Webster was recruited from the government to become first general counsel of the worldwide management consulting firm, A.T. Kearney, headquarterd in Chicago. His responsibilities there were global and included extensive interaction with the firm's senior management and board of directors. A.T. Kearney grew to over 60 offices in 30 countries by the time Webster left the firm in 2002. Subsequently, he has been vice president and general counsel for Hawaiian Airlines in Honolulu, Hawaii and vice president and general counsel at DeVry Inc.
