Cyndy Simms

Cyndy Simms, a veteran of the educational system, acted as the superintendent of four major school districts in the course of her 22-year career. Cyndy Simms worked with K–12 public schools to ensure that students received the highest quality of education possible. To prepare students for college and life beyond the classroom, Cyndy Simms engaged staff and community supporters to produce desirable change through public policy and revenue generation. As Superintendent of the Steamboat Springs School District, Cyndy Simms negotiated pay-for-performance bonuses and knowledge-and-skills-based pay. During her years as Superintendent, she successfully increased revenue generation through a voter-approved half-cent sales tax for schools, general obligation bonds, and mil levy overrides.

Cyndy Simms was a keynote presenter at the Consortium for Policy Research in Education's national conference in November 2002, discussing “New Directions in Teacher Compensation and Evaluation.” Furthermore, Cyndy Simms was a speaker at the 2004 National Commission on Teaching and America's Future conference, where she addressed ways that schools can raise test scores by moving to a pay-for-performance compensation system.

Cyndy Simms has three advanced degrees, including her Master of Education from the University of Virginia. In addition, Cyndy Simms obtained a Master of Public Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Denver. During her academic studies, Cyndy Simms was awarded a two-year scholarship as a research assistant with the Bureau of Educational Research at the University of Denver.

A member of Rotary International since 1987, Cyndy Simms serves as President of the Walnut Valley Rotary Club. Cyndy Simms also serves on the Diamond Bar Community Foundation's Board of Directors.
