Adam Kuenzel

Since 1990, Adam Kuenzel has served as the Principal Flutist for the Minnesota Orchestra in Minneapolis. Throughout his career, Adam Kuenzel has performed a significant number of flute concertos from many musical eras. Demonstrating the scope of his talents, Adam Kuenzel has executed these works with several orchestras. In his capacity with the Minnesota Orchestra, Adam Kuenzel has played concertos from three different eras of music. The Brandenburg Concertos, by Johann Sebastian Bach, were created during the Baroque period in the early 1700s. In addition, Adam Kuenzel has been involved in three performances from the Modern era, including flute concertos from Carl Nielson, Jacques Ibert, and Hisatada Otaka. Adam Kuenzel has also performed contemporary pieces, such as the Pied Piper Fantasy, written by John Corigliano. In addition to his work with the Minnesota Orchestra, Adam Kuenzel has appeared as a Guest Flutist elsewhere. Adam Kuenzel delivered a performance of the Pied Piper Fantasy with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony and the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. And in his capacity with the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, he played the 1902 Chaminade Concertino by Cecile Chaminade and the 1870 Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy by Franz Doppler. Adam Kuenzel performed the Carl Nielson concerto and the 1778 Concerto in D Major from Wolfgang Mozart with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Adam Kuenzel also played the 1944 Howard Hanson piece Serenade for Flute, Harp, and Strings for the San Antonio Symphony. In more recent work, Adam Kuenzel had the honor of debuting two world premieres, including Manuel Sosa’s flute concerto Eloquentia and a flute concerto by Stanislaw Skrowaczewski.
